hall bath before and after

bathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diyWelcome to my new hall bath! I’d say it’s come a long way! The goal was simple – to make it feel fresh, happy, minimal and modern with some quirk and interest because it’s also going to be the kids’ bathroom.

To keep costs down, we kept the original layout and toilet but all the other fixtures and finishes are new. To sum it up, we gutted it down to the studs, removed all the fixtures, re-did old plumbing, installed ventilation to the outside, replaced the window, updated the electrical, insulated and drywalled, tiled the floors, installed a new vanity and sink, tiled the bath, hung a new door and light fixture, trimmed out the window, installed new baseboards and painted. home renovation, hall bath, reveal, remodelWe were originally planning on painting this room white but decided at the last minute to paint the walls a cool, neutral grey called Sterling by Behr. I chose white subway tile for the shower and tub area with white grout and matte black fixtures. We also added a little soap dish / built in shelf which I want in all my bathrooms now. For the vanity, I looked all over at a lot of different options but in the end went with this one. I love that it’s simple, white and has a carrera marble top. I replaced the original vanity hardware with these matte black pulls. Above the vanity, I chose a simple mirror / medicine cabinet and these modern sconces. Moving on to the floors, as much as I loved the look of black hex tile, I wanted to find something that was easily washable and more kid friendly so I chose these elongated grey tiles with matching grey grout. bathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diybathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diybathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diybathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diybathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diybathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diyFor the final touches, I hung a striped shower curtain and a few pieces of abstract art. I love the idea of art in the bathroom. With the room’s color scheme falling heavily in the neutral zone (white, black and grey), I wanted to have a little fun. These Britt Bass pieces are light, airy and perfect for the space. bathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diybathroom remodel, hall bath after, home renovation, diyAnd that’s it!
