custom kz art

custom art, commission, kate zitzer art, sale, painting,l love working on commissions. I love the dialogue and the mixing of ideas and concepts between clients and myself. I’ve been very lucky so far in my creative career to have worked with fantastic people. Right now I’m working on some paintings for a nursery. They are so much fun to do and they make work feel like play.

Here are some common custom art requests –

  • General fine art commissions. As you can see from the photos, I do mostly fine art commissions. If I’ve got time and you’ve got money, I’ll paint you a fruit bowl or a guitar or a mural in your kids’ bedroom. Sometimes I turn down a request if it doesn’t fall within my comfort level and style. I do require some art direction (you can read more about the process here) and a lot of lead time.
  • Pet portraits. I love animals and I’d love to work on my pet portrait skills. I would need a couple of good high resolution photos in order to capture your pet’s personality, but if you have that then I’m willing to try! I’m also willing to do your pet turtle or hamster, whatever you’ve got.
  • People portraits. I typically don’t do these. People are hard for me. Plus, I feel if I don’t know the person then it’s hard to paint them and photos don’t always tell enough about a person.
  • Tattoos. I’ve designed one tattoo before. Depending on the style you’d like me to use, how involved your idea is and how much time I have in my schedule, I might be interested in doing it again. Always worth asking.

If you’re interested in placing a custom order or purchasing some art for the holidays, please email me. Have an idea that isn’t reflected here? Let me know! It never hurts to ask.

ARTober | custom artwork sale

kate zitzer, art, painting, etsy, sale, commission, custom artworkCustom orders are a lot of fun. They push me out of my comfort zone and give me a chance to try new things. Plus you become a part of the creative process which gives you a special connection to the piece.

How does it work? Once you contact me, we will discuss your desired order – exchange ideas, discuss colors, sizes, materials, etc. I do appreciate some art direction – photos, fabric swatches, magazine clippings or anything at all. These things help me visualize while I’m painting and will inspire your custom piece. Then I will give you a price quote which will include a shipping estimate if necessary. I do charge a small fee for custom work. This covers any additional material costs and the extra time it takes to plan, sketch and paint a custom order – I really try my best to deliver exactly what you want! If the quote works for you, I will set up a custom listing in my Etsy shop, and once I receive payment, I will begin working on your piece. I have a full time job so I work on my art in the evenings and on the weekends. Custom paintings usually take anywhere from two to six weeks to complete. If you have a deadline, let me know. I am happy to work with you if I can. During the process I will send one or two progress images to give you an idea how your order is taking shape, and I will make any desired changes at this time. Once your piece is complete, I will wrap, package and ship it to you. If you’re local, we can arrange a pick up.

So now through the end of October I am offering a 15% discount on all custom orders. Already see something you like? I’m also offering 10% off on all paintings available in my shop – including prints! Use coupon code “artobersale” at checkout. Custom artwork can be seen on Instagram using the hashtag #katezitzerart or on my kate zitzer art board on Pinterest. I also offer custom colors and custom sizes on any of my paintings. Interested in working together? Contact me at kzbykatezitzer[at]gmail.com for more information.

studio update + we’re moving (again)

kate zitzer art, painting, inspiration, artist studio, plants, succulentskate zitzer art, painting, inspiration, artist studio, plants, succulentsI wanted to pop in to say hi. Not sure if anyone still comes here for a visit since I’ve been terribly neglectful of this space over the past few months. With Instagram being so quick and immediate, it makes posting over there so much easier and faster. As of late I’ve been keeping up with business and getting ready for One of a Kind Chicago which is happening in two months. I participated in three summer art festivals this year and will be posting a recap of the season sometime next week. I also just updated my Etsy shop with lots of new items and marked down a few pieces too. Take a look here to see if there’s something you like. When I’m not in the studio, I’ve been packing and cleaning. Our current living situation is changing again. A few weeks before we finished phase 2 of our renovation, we did something crazy and put in an offer on a different house. So we hurried up and finished the renovation and put our current house on the market. It’s been a whirlwind to say the least. My current motto has been live in the now and enjoy what you have today because everything can change so quickly. I’ll share more stories about our renovations and photos of the finished rooms soon. This home (and year) has definitely been an adventure for Marc and me! I’d love to hear about your home buying experiences too. Have any of you done something crazy like this?
