ABOUT KATE –
I am a Chicago-based project manager by day and an artist and creative consultant by night. I started the Palettes and Passports blog in 2012 as a means of documenting my latest paintings, projects, travels and inspirations. I also share artists I admire and shops I adore, photography, city guides, road trips, interiors, before and after photos of our home renovation, entertaining tips, DIY ideas, design and much more! I hope you find inspiration here. ABOUT THE ART –
All of my designs reflect my love for clean lines, type, pattern, bold colors, movement and modern design. I believe that simplicity has a lot of strength when it comes to art and my work reflects that. I love to change reality with colors, which gives all of my designs a fresh, brighter and more spontaneous feeling. My hope is that the finished painting will be a playful and fun accessory in a child’s bedroom, a small pop of color on a bookshelf or a bright and bold statement piece in a living room. I’ve shown my work nationally, and I am also available for commissions (more info below) and design work.

ABOUT THE TRAVEL –
In 2006, during my junior year of college, I had an incredible opportunity to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain. During those inspirational months, I traveled around Spain and throughout Europe. I particularly fell in love with being outside my comfort zone, losing myself in strange places and diving head first into new experiences. I returned with a newfound passion for travel, exploration and other cultures.
