lakeview east festival of the arts recap
Wow what a whirlwind few weeks! We spent the weekend at the Lakeview East Festival of the Arts – thanks to all of you who stopped by and made a purchase at my booth. Saturday was a very successful day and I sold out of Love You So paintings and 11×14 Chicago Loop prints. Sunday could have been busier – it was cold and raining. I appreciate everyone who braved the weather and came out to the fest. I did want to show you my new design for the Home painting or as my mom refers to it “the roofs” – I was happy it sold on Saturday.
Art fair madness is over now until next spring when we will do it all over again. I had such a great season this year and my success is owed to everyone who came by to show their support. I am so touched and overwhelmed so thank you! It was really nice to have so many friends and family visit us too and keep us company during the weekends. There is no time for rest just yet – I have emails to catch up on, errands to run and a studio to clean up. I also have to start getting ready for the ARTober sale in a few weeks.
If I missed you at the fair, please feel free to order from my Esty shop, and I am available for local pick up so just email me.

diamond lake
We got home Monday evening after a few days at the lake. We stayed in a cozy little cottage and spent the days out in the sun returning in the evenings with warm skin and tangled hair. It was a hot weekend – perfect for dipping into the cool water. We had some fantastic meals – my sister is always in the kitchen and has a way of making everything she touches so delicious. It was really nice to get away from the city for a little while and to catch up on some sleep and hangout with my family too. Being at the lake forces you to slow down and it’s nice to just relax. It was hard getting back in the studio yesterday and seeing all the work I have to get done.

summer’s end
We’re at the lake for the long weekend – its such a peaceful place. The past few weeks have been pretty hectic so it’s nice to find time to just sit still and be quiet. These summer days are quickly slipping away – what a crazy summer it has been and strange temperatures too. Soon the air will turn crisp and it will be time to pull out the sweaters and jackets. It’s amazing how fast the seasons go by but for now I am just trying to enjoy what’s left of summer. I am constantly trying to make the most of my days and not waste them – to find balance, to be adventurous, to enjoy life and enjoy making art and living in the city and working toward new goals.

places to go | savannah
Early Monday morning we set off towards Savannah. The stretch between Charleston and Savannah was endless marshland. The city was moody and gorgeous. Spanish moss hung from tall live oaks and the architecture was stunning. We took our time wandering through the city, strolling along the river and through the gardens and squares and stopping for a long leisurely lunch to fill up on cornbread and biscuits and bbq. As we made our way back to Charleston later in the evening I watched the sun setting and realized slowing down was exactly what we needed.

places to go | charleston
…a few weeks later and I’m finally sharing photos from our trip to Charleston to celebrate our second anniversary. The city was small and easy to get around, laid back and comfortable. We arrived late Saturday morning and from there we started 72 hours of unbelievable meals, lazy evenings and leisurely bike rides along the edge of the peninsula. A few of my favorites –
– Wildflour for Sticky Bun Sundays. We washed them down with the freshest pulpiest orange juice.
– The incredible noodles bowls and breakfast sandwiches we ate at Two Boroughs Larder.
– The afternoon harbor cruise on the Carolina Belle. We heard stories about the city’s rich history and got a little sunburned.
– We rented bikes and rode around for hours exploring south of Broad and the Battery. We stopped for frozen yogurt and fresh squeezed lemonade.
– We stayed in a lovely boutique hotel on the corner of King and Calhoun called the Francis Marion Hotel.
– Bin 152, after a few hours of sightseeing, we stopped in this little wine and cheese bar. It was beautifully decorated with antiques and we stuffed ourselves with all the wine, cheese, bread and meat we could eat.
– Bowen’s Island Restaurant for fried fish, iced teas and sunsets over the marsh.
