neutrals
Wow, it’s been months since my last post! The first half of the year has been a whirlwind. Between our trip to the Dominican Republic and our California road trip, preparing for art fair season and starting phase 2 of our home renovation, I am exhausted. The upside is now I have a bunch of updates that I’ll be sharing with you over the next few weeks. So stay tuned! For now, I thought I would share some items I currently have my eye on. I have to have that cactus poster!

monday moodboard 01
Lately I’ve been brainstorming new column ideas for this blog. I’ve had a lot of fun putting together Eye Candy posts because they really get my creative juices flowing and they leave you all with something new to consume. So with those same guidelines in mind, I came up with an idea I’m excited about – I’m calling it Monday Moodboard. I like finding images that create a theme – a kind of tumblresque visual moodboard. Sometimes I seem to pin images with a similar or complimentary color palette so I’m going to exploit that a little bit more. Here are a few photos, color combinations, shapes and designs that had me feeling inspired – enjoy this Monday Moodboard!

for your home | cloth & goods
We’ve lived in our house for eight months now. Eight months! I’m tired of making excuses for our house not looking the way I want it to (at least the rooms that aren’t being renovated) so my goal this month is to get this place looking more finished. I stumbled upon the Cloth & Goods website recently and I quickly started adding several of their items to my wishlist. I tend to gravitate toward neutrals with pops of navy blue here and there, mostly in art and accessories. Here are a few favorites –

studio update | etsy spring sale
It’s finally spring and to celebrate making it through another Chicago winter I’m having a sale! I just updated my Etsy shop and marked down a lot of pieces. Take a look here. I’m also offering 10% all orders (including prints) for Palettes and Passports readers. Enter the coupon code kzspringsale at checkout. The sale will end next Friday, April 3, 2015 at midnight. If you are local to Chicago and do not want to pay for shipping, just email me and we’ll work it out. Remember all of my original paintings are signed on the back and ready to hang. Thank you so much to all of you who have supported my work through purchasing something from my shop! Have a wonderful weekend!
dominican republic
Back in January we escaped the brutal Chicago winter and headed south to the Dominican Republic. We stayed at a beautiful resort in Punta Cana where we lounged in the sun, soaked in the pool and drank too many strawberry daiquiris. We went snorkeling with sharks and ziplining in the jungle. We ran around the beach at sunset and danced to reggae music under the stars. The heat was a nice break from Chicago’s freezing temps and I couldn’t get over the gorgeous colors and lush tropical plants — turquoise waters, bright blue skies, palm tress and succulents.
