studio update | etsy spring sale
It’s finally spring and to celebrate making it through another Chicago winter I’m having a sale! I just updated my Etsy shop and marked down a lot of pieces. Take a look here. I’m also offering 10% all orders (including prints) for Palettes and Passports readers. Enter the coupon code kzspringsale at checkout. The sale will end next Friday, April 3, 2015 at midnight. If you are local to Chicago and do not want to pay for shipping, just email me and we’ll work it out. Remember all of my original paintings are signed on the back and ready to hang. Thank you so much to all of you who have supported my work through purchasing something from my shop! Have a wonderful weekend!
setting a fall table + entertaining tips
Setting the table ranks right up there as one of my favorite holiday activities. This year I wanted to create a comfortable and carefree vibe that felt fresh and modern yet had enough fall tones and autumnal motifs to make it season appropriate. Instead of the usual warm reds, oranges, tans and taupes, I was inspired to switch it up with plum purple and yellow. I also paired natural materials like wooden bowls and trays with shiny elements like polished silverware and mercury glass votives. Forget the fancy centerpiece and try a fresh floral garland instead. It feels festive and fun, and it will last throughout the holiday season. Nestle smaller floral arrangements, white pillar candles and wooden candle holders with white tapers around the garland. Scatter acorns to fill in the gaps. Incorporate seasonal fruit or vegetables when possible. This time of year I love persimmons. They add an outdoor vibe and a pop of color. Read More
happy long weekend
Tomorrow evening I am closing up shop early and we’re hitting the road, heading north to Michigan for Labor Day weekend. Nothing special is on the agenda – just your standard exploring, eating, porch sitting and sun soaking. I refuse to accept that August is almost over. I feel like time is flying by so fast!
After a summer stuck indoors knee deep in house projects I know I’m ready for a little fun in the sun and these images are definitely putting me in the mood for long lingering days at the beach! Enjoy the holiday weekend!
